HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.l Date: May 21, 2018 Item No. APPROVAL OF A PROPOSAL FROM QUALITY FLOW SYSTEMS, INC. FOR THE REHABILITATION OF LIFT STATION 23 Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve a proposal from Quality Flow Systems, Inc. for the rehabilitation of Lift Station 23. Overview This rehabilitation consists of upgrades to the control panel and replacement of the pumps in the lift station. Replacing the control panel upgrades controls and instrumentation to conform to the City’s standard configuration. Pumps are replaced based on age of the pumps. The lift station was installed in 2003. Rehabilitation of Lift Station 23 to replace the pumps and upgrade the control panel is a planned and programmed activity in the 2018 budget. Lift stations are scheduled for rehabilitation every 15 years to ensure proper operation of the pumps and controls. Lift Station 23 is located in a residential area west of Interstate 35 on 185thth Street and serves both commercial and residential properties before pumping into Lift Station 7 at Klamath Trail and Kings Court. Lift stations are critical to the collection and movement of sewage to the Empire wastewater treatment facility. The Utilities Division sought a proposal from a single vendor, Quality Flow Systems, Inc., based on work they have already done with the City’s lift stations and to standardize the control panel layout with other lift stations. Total cost of the project is $31,810.00. Total budget amount is $45,000.00. Staff recommends approval of the proposal. Primary Issues to Consider • Why is this rehabilitation necessary? It corrects some control and instrumentation deficiencies in the existing panel to ensure uninterrupted operation of the lift station. Replacement of the pumps is necessary due to the age of the lift station. Supporting Information • A copy of the proposal is attached.
