HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.c Date: July 2, 2018 Item No. RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATIONS TO THE PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT IN THE 2nd QUARTER OF 2018 Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve resolution accepting donations to the Parks & Recreation Department for the second quarter of 2018 and approve a donation agreement with the Lakeville Lions. Overview Donations from various sources were received by the Lakeville Parks & Recreation Department. Please see the attached list of donors for details. The Lakeville Lions donated $25,000 for the future construction of a miniature golf course at King Park. The City will hold this donation in escrow and release the funds to the Lakeville Baseball Association immediately upon the LBA’s approval and execution of contracts for construction of the miniature golf course. On behalf of our department, we sincerely thank all of these individuals and businesses for their generosity. Primary Issues to Consider • None Supporting Information • List of donors Financial Impact: $ Budgeted: Y☐ N☒ Source: Related Documents: (CIP, ERP, etc.): Envision Lakeville Community Values: A Sense of Community and Belonging Report Completed by: John Hennen, Parks & Recreation Director N/A Donations CITY OF LAKEVILLE RESOLUTION NO. ____ RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATIONS TO THE LAKEVILLE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT IN THE SECOND QUARTER OF 2018 WHEREAS, MN Statute 465.03 requires that cities accept donations for the benefit of its citizens in accordance with the terms prescribed by the donor; and WHEREAS, the City of Lakeville's Parks and Recreation Department has received grants and donations of money, goods or property as indicated on the attached list; and WHEREAS, the Lakeville Lions donation of $25,000.00 is subject to the construction of the King Park Miniature Golf Course as noted in the attached Donation Agreement; and WHEREAS, the grants and donations were beneficial to the department; and WHEREAS, the additional revenues received may require the City to incur additional expenditures to comply with grant agreements and restricted donations. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakeville, Minnesota, that the grants and donations on the attached list are hereby accepted and acknowledged with gratitude to the donors; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that City staff is authorized to amend the budget to comply with grant agreements and restrictive donations. With this Agreement the Lakeville Lions is donating $25,000.00 for the future construction of a Miniature Golf Course at King Park. The City of Lakeville will hold this donation in escrow. City of Lakeville agrees to release and disburse the $25,000.00 to the Lakeville Baseball Association (LBA) immediately upon the LBA’s approval and execution of contracts for construction of the Miniature Golf Course at King Park. If the Miniature Golf Course is not constructed within ten years from the date of this Agreement, the Lakeville Lions will determine how the proceeds will then be used.
