LAKEVILLE COMMERCE CENTER EASEMENT VACATION
PROPOSED ACTION
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to table: a resolution vacating
drainage and utility easements.
OVERVIEW
Aldi, Incorporated representatives have submitted applications for an easement vacation of
existing platted public drainage and utility easements for new subdivision to be known as
Lakeville Commerce Center Fourth Addition. Aldi’s is an international grocery retailer with
numerous stores located in the Twin Cities area. The proposed Lakeville store location is
immediately south of Lakeville Emagine Theatre at the southwest corner of Keokuk Avenue
and 207th Street West.
The easement vacation requires a public hearing. Aldi’s is also requesting approval of a final
plat and development contract in conjunction with the new store development. Aldi’s has
requested that action on the easement vacation and final plat be -re-scheduled for a future
meeting
PRIMARY ISSUES TO CONSIDER
Why is the public hearing on the easement vacation being held by the City Council rather than
the Planning Commission? Since the final plat requires only City Council approval, the easement
vacation was also scheduled for the City Council to streamline the approval process.
