He said he called the City in 2011 and was told that he did not need a permit to replace a shed less than 120 square feet in size on his property, which he did. Last year he constructed another shed on his property, again without a permit because he didn’t think he needed one. The City received a complaint from a neighbor and he was told by Planning Department staff that he needed to remove the new shed. He explained that his sheds and property are nice and well-kept and he would like to keep them. That is why he is requesting a variance. The Planning Commission concurred that Mr. Thiry’s request does not meet the criteria required by the Zoning Ordinance for granting a variance and explained that Planning Department staff was doing its job in following up on the complaint. Mr. Thiry stated he did not want to waste any more of the Planning Commission’s time and agreed to remove the newest shed, which is the one the City received a complaint on. He stated the best way to remove the shed without tearing it apart would be to access it from the lake in the winter. It was agreed that the City would give Mr. Thiry a deadline of January 31, 2019 to remove the shed, weather dependent. The work session adjourned at 7:05 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Daryl Morey, Planning Director
