Questions & Comments:
Next Steps: City and consultant to prepare conceptual plans for review to be posted online for review
and comment, likely in about 4 weeks (email to go out with link)
Wouldn't mind one idea being to leave it alone. It is nice going for walks/runs,
and having the quiet of the field where some or tossing a ball back and
forth. Several comments made regarding the natural surroundings are a great
treasure to protect ‐ nice to be able to connect with nature here.
Have two soccer fields. We travel far and wide for good fields. It might be nice to
offer something of that nature near.
Would love to see this area developed. A center that people can rent for
gathering, small dog park, small splash pad, nice bathrooms & water fountain/
irrigation system so that the water does not freeze over resulting in fish kill‐off &
keep algae down. Small stage for performances/movie in the park. Added safety
like flashing lights at Pilot Knob crosswalk or buttons for emergency. Gazebos,
open areas for all age children, community gardens, fishing & kayak area, art and
winter activities.
Are current community gardens being removed from their current location, and if
so some should be incorporated into this E. Community Park ‐they need water
An open space to have non‐programmed activities like soccer, lacrosse, kite
boarding is great to keep as‐is. Flexible space.
Canoe / kayak launch, floating dock for fishing pier ‐ need more water use.
Undesirable activity happening in gravel parking lot. Move closer to Pilot Knob, or
other security measures, so it can be better monitored and less light pollution on
neighborhood.
Add another access point to the water from the north end
Include few noise oriented events. This natural space is rare in this developed of
an area. Passive activities are preferred
Place aggregate, wood chips or pave the trail in the native woods
Include a noise buffer from Pilot Knob (trees, berm, etc.)
Paths are very bumpy in areas ‐ esp. on 170th
Aerator in lake to reduce the kill‐off of fish every year
Keep the park natural and inexpensive
Numerous comments to pave the path through the woods since many residents
on the north end want better access to the park and some are older/seniors,
along with parents with strollers, that have difficulty getting through current path
Water quality is poor ‐ one person noted it used to be a marsh/ swamp before
becoming a "lake" and is shallow in most areas.
No need for performance stage since there are others close by, it would be too
close to residents and there does not seem to be a demand here.
