Home My WebLink AboutItem 06.c Date: Item No. FIBER NETWORK QUOTE ACCEPTANCE FOR HERITAGE LIQUOR AND ARTS CENTER Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to accept quote and award contract to MPNexlevel for the construction of fiber optic network segments from City Hall to the Heritage Liquor Store and Lakeville Arts Center. Overview City IT Staff continues to work with Dakota County to build-out the Cities fiber optic data network that began in 2017. Phase III (2018 Build) includes two fiber segments that will need to be constructed from City Hall to Heritage Liquor Store and Lakeville Arts Center. The remodeling of the Dakota County Library adjacent to City Hall creates an opportunity for the City and County to replace an existing fiber segment that runs from Lake Marion Elementary thru the library and then to City Hall. A lateral fiber connection to this segment from Heritage Liquor will be constructed by the City. Lakeville Arts Center will be connected to dark fiber provided by ISD 194 near the Arts Center and traverse the districts network to Lake Marion Elementary and then to City Hall. This opportunity allows the City to connect these two sites at a lower cost than originally estimated and is under budget.
