HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.n Date: Item No. ACCEPTING DONATION TO THE LAKEVILLE POLICE DEPARMENT Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to accept a donation of $740 total, $265 cash and $475 in checks, to the Lakeville Police Department. Overview National Night Out 2018 resulted in several personal donations to the Lakeville Police Department. These donations will be used to purchase specialized equipment for the Police Department. The equipment will be used to protect and serve the citizens of Lakeville. • $265.00 in cash from multiple anonymous residential families • $300.00 check from A This Little Piggy Catering • $100.00 check from James Wilde • $75.00 check from Amy & Joseph Collins Primary Issues to Consider • Gifts and donations require approval of the City Council. • The Police Department appreciates the support of our residents and thanks them for their support. Supporting Information Financial Impact: $ 740.00 Budgeted: Y☐ N☐ Source: Related Documents: (CIP, ERP, etc.): Envision Lakeville Community Values: Safety Throughout the Community Report Completed by: Chief Jeff Long December 03, 2018 CITY OF LAKEVILLE RESOLUTION NO._________________ RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATION WHEREAS, multiple anonymous residential families along with This Little Piggy Catering, James Wilde and Amy & Joseph Collins donated $740 to the Lakeville Police Department during National Night Out 2018; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute 465.03 requires that all gifts and donations of real or personal property be accepted only with the adoption of a resolution of the governing body. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakeville that the donation of $740 is hereby accepted; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Lakeville sincerely thanks our residents for their generous donation.
