HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.cJanuary 19, 2010 Item No. REQUEST APPROVAL OF PERFORMANCE AGREEMENTS FOR THE LAKEVILLE AREA ARTS CENTER Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve performance agreements for the Lakeville Area Arts Center. Overview The Lakeville Area Arts Center offers a variety of stage entertainment as advertised in the 2009-2010 Lakeville Area Arts Center Playbill. Staff has secured agreements and recommends approval of the following contracts for performances: • Chris Gresseth with The Cousins Tour — February 6, 2010 • CLIMB Theatre — Theater Camp — June 6 — July 2, 2010 • Prairie Fire Theatre — Tom Sawyer— June 13-19, 2010 • Prairie Fire Theatre — Sleeping Beauty— July 11-17, 2010 • Prairie Fire Theatre — Wizard of Oz — August 15-21, 2010 Primary Issues to Consider • None Supporting Information • Agreements for services performed by independent contractors Tom Barnard Lakeville Area Arts Center Coordinator Financial Impact: $ Budgeted: Y/N Y Source: Related Documents (CIP, ERP, etc.): Playbill and Parks & Recreation Brochure Notes: Agreement between the City of Lakeville and Chris Gresseth The Cousins Tour consisting of Chris Gresseth and Ben Rosenbush will perform a ninety minute concert with a fifteen minute intermission at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2010, at the Lakeville Area Arts Center, 20965 Holyoke Avenue, in Lakeville. Both Chris Gresseth and the Lakeville Area Arts Center staff will work to promote the show. Chris will notify his data base of contacts and fans about the performance. The Lakeville Area Arts Center will promote the event in its 2009-2010 playbill, media releases, marquee, newsletters, and using other available resources. The Lakeville Area Arts Center will print and sell tickets for $15.00 through its box office and ticket outlets. Stage will be clear of furniture, props, scenery, etc. and available to Chris Gresseth all day. There will be general stage lighting, the sound booth and a sound booth technician if needed. Additional lighting and sound needs will be the responsibility of Chris Gresseth. The City of Lakeville carries the standard liability insurance for audiences, staff, and the building of the Lakeville Area Arts Center. All concession sales will be for the LAAC. Chris Gresseth has the right to sell CD's and merchandise in the lobby and keep all the proceeds. Payment will be made in the amount of 90% of the ticket sales revenue to Chris Gresseth. The first check for the amount of the presale tickets as of January 25, 2010, will be ready the night of the concert. A second check for the remaining tickets sales will be paid after the first Lakeville City Council meeting following the February 6 concert, February 16. In the event of bad weather making travel to a performance unsafe, the decision to cancel shall be made by the Lakeville Area Arts Center Coordinator and Chris Gresseth. Rescheduling of the concert will depend on availability of the performance space and Chris Gresseth.
