Home My WebLink AboutItem 06.kMarch 15, 2010 Item No._l� Resolution Authorizing the Sale of Assets from Various City Departments Proposed Action Staff recommends approval of the following motion: Resolution authorizing the sales of assets from various City Departments as listed on Exhibit A and Exhibit B of the proposed resolution. Passage of this motion would allow the sale of assets to be sold through the K -Bid on- line auction site. Overview In 2009, the Liquor Department had several pieces of retail equipment leftover from the closing of the Lakeville Liquor Cedar location. These items, as well as other items from various city departments, were approved for sale. They were sold through K -Bid auction service resulting in sales revenue in excess of $12,000. The Liquor Committee has since approved that all Liquor Department dealer loaders be sold through this on-line auction service rather than the previously established silent auction system. The on-line auction has proven itself to bring in a higher return and is more labor effective. While the Liquor Department will coordinate the auction, all other departments are participating with items that have exceeded their useful life span. While there are several on-line auction services, K -bid was chosen as they are the largest on-line auction service provider in the State of Minnesota. K -Bid has over 75,000 registered bidders, and receives over 1 million hits to their website monthly. They also provide a discounted rate for their service for cities and non-profit organizations. What are the fees associated for the service? K -bid's fees are 10% of the sale value, as well as $2.00 for every picture cataloged. K -Bid provides staff for set up of the auction as well as the coordination and insertion of all pictures and descriptions on to the website. They then labor on the day of pick-up. What are dealer loaders? Dealer loaders are items such as electronics and other items of value that the Liquor Department receives for bulk purchases. CITY OF LAKEVILLE RESOLUTION NO. RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SALE OF ASSETS BE IT RESOLVED that the assets listed on Schedule A attached hereto are hereby authorized to be sold to the highest responsible bidder. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the assets listed on Schedule B attached hereto are hereby authorized to be sold as forfeited items. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that any items not sold as shown on Exhibit A and Exhibit B attached hereto are authorized to be donated. APPROVED this 15th day of March 2010.
