Item No. 6z
JUNE 7, 2010 CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM
YMCA OF METROPOLITAN MINNEAPOLIS — CAMP STREEFLAND
FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF PUBLIC UTILITIES
Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve the final acceptance of
public utilities constructed with YMCA of Metropolitan Minneapolis -Camp Streefland.
Overview
YMCA of Metropolitan Minneapolis submitted a letter, dated May 17, 2010, requesting
acceptance of the public utilities constructed with YMCA — Camp Streefland. The approval of a
Comprehensive Plan Amendment and subsequent administrative subdivision brought a 1 -acre
area of the YMCA property into the current MUSA, allowing the YMCA to connect to public
sanitary sewer. The major contractor performing work on this project was CF Madson
Excavating, LLC.
The sanitary sewer was constructed in 2007. The utility improvement for the above -referenced
project has been tested and inspected by WSB and the Public Works Department.
Engineering recommends approval of final acceptance of the public utility improvement for this
project.
Primary Issues to Consider
A maintenance bond and lien waiver have not been provided. Because the utilities were
installed over 2 years ago and passed final inspection, a maintenance bond will not be required.
The City Attorney has approved acceptance without a lien waiver because the improvements
are on public and not private property.
