PUBLIC HEARING ON THE APPLICATION OF SAWA JAPAN MN INC.
FOR AN ON -SALE AND SUNDAY LIQUOR LICENSE
Proposed Action
Staff recommends the following motion: Motion to grant an on -sale and Sunday liquor
license to Sawa Japan MN Inc., d.b.a. Sawa Japan Steakhouse and Sushi, 18453
Orchard Trail, subject to receipt of a certificate of occupancy from the City of Lakeville
Building Inspector.
Overview
In accordance with Title 3-1-6-2 of the Lakeville City Code, the City Council will conduct
a public hearing on the application of Sawa Japan MN Inc. for an on -sale and Sunday
liquor license at Sawa Japan Steakhouse and Sushi. This new restaurant is being
constructed in the TimberCrest Development.
Mayor Dahl will open the public hearing and ask the City Clerk to attest that notice of
the hearing was duly published in the City's legal newspaper. The applicant, Zhong Qin
Zheng, will provide an overview. The restaurant will have seating for 70 guests. There
is no outdoor seating proposed. Sergeant Kornmann will present the Police
Department's report on the liquor license application. Mayor Dahl will then open the
hearing to questions and comments from members of the audience.
In accordance with Title 3-1-6-4 of the Lakeville City Code, when a license is granted for
premises where the building is under construction or otherwise not ready for occupancy,
the clerk shall not issue the license until notified by the building inspector that the
building is ready for occupancy. This restaurant anticipates a July 1, 2010 opening.
