HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.fMay 3, 2010 — -/ Item No. MAY 3, 2010 CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM ACCEPT DONATIONS FROM VARIOUS SOURCES ON BEHALF OF THE LAKEVILLE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT IN SUPPORT OF THE ANNUAL ROADSIDE WATERSHED CLEANUP DAY Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve Resolution accepting donations from various sources to benefit the Lakeville Engineering Department in support of the annual Roadside Watershed Cleanup Day. Overview Donations, including 50 pizzas from Domino's Pizza; 800 free Crazy Bread coupons from Little Caesars; one truck, one driver and trash disposal from Dick's Sanitation; one truck, one driver and trash disposal from Waste Management; and one truck, one driver and trash disposal from Troje's Trash Service were received by the Lakeville Engineering Department to support the annual Roadside Watershed Cleanup Day. The Engineering Department recommends that the City Council approve the attached resolution accepting these donations. Primary Issues to Consider • None Supporting Information • Resolution Keith H. RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATIONS FROM VARIOUS SOURCES ON BEHALF OF THE LAKEVILLE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT IN SUPPORT OF THE ANNUAL ROADSIDE WATERSHED CLEANUP DAY WHEREAS, local businesses made the following donations to the City of Lakeville's Engineering Department in support of the Roads id e/Waters hed Cleanup Day: and Waste Management, one truck, one driver and trash disposal, valued at $393.70 Dick's Sanitation, one truck, one driver and trash disposal, valued at $534.75 Troje's Trash Service, one truck, one driver and trash disposal, valued at $733.00 Domino's Pizza, 50 pizzas, valued at $549.50 Little Caesars Pizza, 800 free crazy bread coupons, valued at $3,192.00 WHEREAS, the donations were beneficial to the department and the event; and WHEREAS, the businesses have offered to transfer full rights of ownership of the donations to the City of Lakeville with no conditions or reservations; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute 465.03 requires that all gifts and donations of real or personal property be accepted only with the adoption of a resolution of the governing body. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakeville, Minnesota that the donations by these businesses are hereby accepted; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Lakeville sincerely thanks the businesses for their generous donations.
