HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.k Date: March 18, 2019 Item No. APPROVE MUNICIPAL STATE-AID STREET SYSTEM DESIGNATIONS Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve a resolution approving Municipal State-Aid Street System Designations. Overview The Municipal State-Aid (MSA) Street program allows cities with populations of 5,000 or more to designate 20% of its local streets as MSA routes. Lakeville has 1.86 miles available to designate routes as MSA streets. The streets listed below meet MSA Street program criteria and are eligible for MSA street designation. The proposed MSA Street System revisions can be used in calculating the Lakeville’s 2020 MSA allotment and leaves 1.14 miles left for future designation. • 162nd Street – Eagleview Drive to Diamond Path (MSAS 155) • Diamond Path – 162nd Street to 160th Street (CSAH 46) (MSAS 160) Primary Issues to Consider • MSA funds are used toward the construction, reconstruction, improvement or maintenance of the City’s MSA street system to established standards. Supporting Information • MnDOT preliminary approval letter dated February 28, 2019 • Resolution Financial Impact: $0 Budgeted: Y☐ N☐ Source: Related Documents: Envision Lakeville Community Values: Good Value for Public Services Report Completed by: Zach Johnson, City Engineer CITY OF LAKEVILLE RESOLUTION NO. 19- RESOLUTION APPROVING MUNICIPAL STATE-AID STREET SYSTEM DESIGNATIONS WHEREAS, it appears to the City Council of the City of Lakeville that the streets hereinafter should be designated Municipal State-Aid Streets under the provisions of Minnesota Law. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Lakeville, Minnesota that the roads be described as follows, to-wit: • 162nd Street: Eagleview Drive to Diamond Path • Diamond Path: 162nd Street to 160th Street (CSAH 46) be, and hereby are established, located and designated as Municipal State-Aid Streets of said City, subject to the approval of the Commissioner of Transportation of the State of Minnesota. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to forward two certified copies of this resolution to the Commissioner of Transportation for consideration, and that upon approval of the designation of said roads or portions thereof, that same be constructed, improved and maintained as Municipal State-Aid Streets of the City of Lakeville, to be numbered and known as a Municipal State-Aid Street. Extension of MSAS 155: 162nd Street- Eagleview Drive to Diamond Path (0.55 existing miles) MSAS 160: Diamond Path- 162nd Street to 160th Street (CSAH 46) (0.17 existing miles) A Commissioner's Order will follow.
