HomeMy WebLinkAbout79-040CITY OF LAKEVILLE RESOLUTION Date June 4, 1979 Resolution No. 79-40 Motion by Curry Seconded by Nelson RESOLUTION STATING THE CITY OF LAKEVILLE'S SUPPORT FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN ACUTE CARE HOSPITAL AT THE RIDGES COMPLEX IN BURNSVILLE. WHEREAS, the City of Lakeville has approximately 15,000 citizens living within a thirty-eight mile area south of the Minnesota River; and WHEREAS, citizens of Lakeville presently must travel several miles to access an acute care hospital facility; and WHEREAS, the conjested traffic conditions prevent timely and critical access to acute care hospital facilities located north of the Minnesota River; and WHEREAS, the City has the desire to support the establishment of an acute care hospital near Lakeville; and WHEREAS, it is extremely difficult to attract physicians to practice in a community that is distant from major hospital facilities. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF LAKEVILLE: I. Supports the establishment of an acute care hospital at the Ridges Complex in Burnsville, near Lakeville. 2. Requests that the Metropolitan Health Board approve the necessary permit for the Fariview Ridges facility as an important and vital addition to the health care system for the citizens of Lakeville. 3. Understands that items 1 and 2 alone will not cause any adverse effect in operation on existing facilities or future plans of St. Francis Hospital in Shakopee or Sanford Hospital in Farmington. 4. Supports a renewed effort of cooperative planning among all facilities relating to acute health care resulting in increased health care opportunities for the citizens of Lakeville.
