HomeMy WebLinkAbout78-012CITY OF LAKEVILLE RESOLUTION Date: February 6,1978 Motion by: Curry Resolution No. 78-12 Seconded by: Lekson RESOLUTION OPPOSING THE SO-CALLED STADIUM LIQUOR TAX WHEREAS, in 1977 the Minnesota State Legislature enacted Laws 1977 Chapter 89 X11 which imposes a 20 tax on on -sale liquor sales in the metropolitan area to finance a sports stadium; and WHEREAS, the tax is patently unfair, arbitrary and unconstitutional because it requires taxpayers in the metropolitan area to finance a facility that will benefit the entire State. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lakeville City Council: 1. The Minnesota Legislature is strongly urged to immediately repeal the so-called Stadium Liquor Tax. 2. The City Clerk is directed to send copies of the Resolution to the members of the State Legislature whose district includes Dakota Cty. and to the Governor.
