RESOLUTION APPROVING THE LUMP SUM BENEFIT AND TAX SUPPORT
FOR THE LAKEVILLE FIRE RELIEF ASSOCIATION, AND REQUIREMENTS
TO THE FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the City of Lakeville Fire Department and City Council have
established a Fire Relief Association for the City's firemen, and
WHEREAS, the Lakeville Fire Department Relief Association did submit
on July 29, 1977 a certification of their financial requirements, along with
the request for an increase in lump sum benefits to $800 per year, after 20
years of service, and
WHEREAS, the Lakeville City Council has reviewed special fund require-
ments and the department's request for increase in the retirement rate.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that:
1. The lump sum benefit for the Lakeville Fire Department Relief
Association shall be $800 per year, effective January 1, 1978.
2. That the Lakeville City Council will levy $19,253 in the General
Fund as a part of the 1977/78 tax levy to support this retire-
ment benefit in accordance with Minnesota Session Law, 1971,
Chapter 261.3.
3. That the City Council of the City of Lakeville hereby directs
the officers of the Lakeville Fire Department Relief Associa-
tion to review and update the Association By -Laws, including
the requirements for members to retain their eligibility for
the retirement benefits based upon specified levels of per-
formance in attending fires and training drills as well as
any other revisions appropriate to bring them up to date.
4. That the Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief and officers of the
Lakeville Fire Department are directed to provide the City
Council with a monthly report of the activities of the Lake-
ville Fire Department showing the number of fires, number of
training drills, attendance of the Department's members, fire
prevention and inspection activities of the Department, and
hours of service of members of the Fire Department and any
official activity of the Department.
5. That the monthly reports shall be in a form approved by the
City Council and shall begin for the month of January, 1978.
ADOPTED BY the City Council of the City of Lakeville, Minnesota on
this 3rd day of October, 1977.
