HomeMy WebLinkAbout77-13CITY OF LAKEVILLE RESOLUTION Date: February 22, 1977 Resolution No. Motion by Zaun Seconded by 77-13 Emond A RESOLUTION REQUESTING A RELAXATION OF EFFLUENT STANDARDS WHEREAS, the City has been notified by the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission that the estimated capacity at the Lakeville and Apple Valley waste treatment plants will allow a limited number of additional residential connec- tions from January 1, 1976 until the completion of the new treatment facility in Empire Township, and WHEREAS, the number for the Lakeville treatment plant was estimated at 260 connections in total, with 167 for the year of 1976, and WHEREAS, the number for the Apple Valley treatment plant was estimated at 200 connections, and WHEREAS, the City has allowed 288 equivalent residential connections in 1976 to the Lakeville plant and has 481 existing houses, lots and mobile home lots with existing sewer services, and WHEREAS, the City has allowed 111 residential connections in 1976 to the Apple Valley plant and has 336 existing houses, lots or mobile home lots with existing sewer services, and WHEREAS, it will impose a financial hardship on the City and developers, as well as cause a delay in the construction of much needed housing units, if the City is restricted to the few additional residential units on the Lakeville and Apple Valley treatment plants during this three (3) year interim period, and WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission has requested that the effluent standards established for the Lakeville and Apple Valley treatment plants be relaxed until the Empire Township plant is available, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Lakeville go on record in support of the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission National Pollution Discharge Elimination System Permit applications and the accompanying request for the temporary relaxation of effluent standards to allow the additional connections required by Lakeville through 1979.
