MEETING MINUTES
June 5, 2019
Committee Co-Chair Peterson called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m. in the Lake Marion
Conference Room.
Members Present: Jeanne Peterson, Lindsay Haneman, Nick Thompson, Holly Weberg
Members Absent: Bob Swan, Jim Storms, Tom Goodwin, Patty Zuzek
Staff Present: Parks and Recreation Director John Hennen, Environmental Resources Manager
Mac Cafferty, Recording Secretary Stella Eskelson
1. Approval of May 22, 2019 minutes
2. Citizen comments
No citizens present.
3. Staff Report
A No-Wake Restriction is in place on Lake Marion for the second time this season. Per City
ordinance the restriction will remain in place for at least 3-4 days until the water recedes,
Staff will continue to monitor the lake levels.
The Freedom Rock has been delivered to the designated site and the artist will be working
on the rock until June 14. Spectators can watch the process; the official unveiling will be
on July 6 starting at noon at Aronson Park.
Arts Center Staff has completed the 2019/2020 Playbill, it is scheduled to be released in
mid-June.
Park Maintenance Staff will commence working with Tree Trust to install a bocce ball court
at Aronson in the next couple of weeks.
The temporary road between Quigley-Sime and Aronson Parks has been constructed as
well as the pedestrian tunnel under County Road 50. The roundabout project is set to be
paved within the next day or two and is on schedule to be completed by Pan-O-Prog.
Fundraising for the King Park Mini Golf course continues. Staff and representatives from
Brackett’s Crossing met with the St. Paul Area Association of Realtors to appeal for funding.
A decision is anticipated in June/July.

4. North Creek Preliminary Plat
The plat consists of 80 single family residential lots on approximately 88 acres east of Pilot
Knob and south of 173rd Street. A Tree Preservation Plan has been submitted, of the 367
trees located on the site, 132 will remain intact and removals will be primarily along the
perimeter of the homestead. There will be no impact to wetlands with this development.
The Park Dedication fee will include a 3.06-acre land dedication for a neighborhood park
in addition to a cash contribution. A segment of the North Creek Regional Greenway will
also be constructed on a corridor owned by Dakota County.
Motion made by Nick Thompson, seconded by Lindsay Haneman to recommend to
City Council approval of the North Creek Preliminary Plat subject to the recommendations
as presented by City staff.
Ayes: unanimous
