REJECT BID PROPOSALS FOR
LAKEVILLE NORTH HIGH SCHOOL OVERFLOW PARKING LOT IMPROVEMENTS
AND AUTHORIZATION TO READVERTISE FOR BID PROPOSALS IN 2019/2020
Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to reject bid proposals received June
19, 2019 for the Lakeville North High School Overflow Parking Lot Improvements project and
authorize staff to re-advertise for bid proposals in late 2019 or early 2020.
Overview
On Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. the City received four bids for the Lakeville North High
School Overflow Parking Lot Improvement project (City Project 19-13). The bids ranged from a
low bid of $584,833.09 to a high bid of $1,213,123.35. All four bids substantially exceeded the City’s
and Lakeville Arenas’ budget for the proposed improvements. Project size and scope, and
construction season timing/current contractor workload are typically influential factors in final
bid proposal amounts. City staff, Lakeville Arenas and Independent School District No. 194 will
evaluate options, including proposed project funding and potentially combining the project with
other projects, and plan on re-advertising for bids in late 2019 or early 2020.
Primary Issues to Consider
• Rejecting all bids will not impact the funding provided by Lakeville Hockey Association
and Heritage Figure Skating Club as established through previous agreements.
