RESOLUTION ACCPEPTING GRANT
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE
Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Approve resolution accepting a grant from
the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, for the purchase of Body Worn
Cameras.
Overview
The City of Lakeville was awarded a grant for the purchase of Body Worn Cameras on September
26, 2018. The City Council must accept the grant before funds can be requested. The Lakeville
Police Department will receive approximately $106,500 grant funds over the course of three years
to assist in the purchase and implementation of a body worn camera program.
Primary Issues to Consider
• Body Worn Cameras will improve transparency with the public
• A $106,000 project match is required
• Match includes time and other costs incurred by staff to implement the project.

RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A GRANT FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE,
BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE
FOR THE PURCHASE OF BODY WORN CAMERAS
WHEREAS, the Lakeville Police Department desires to participate in the U.S. Department of
Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, Body Worn Camera Program in order to receive grant
funds to cover the equipment costs for body worn cameras.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Lakeville City Council hereby accepts
a grant in the amount of $106,500 from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice
Assistance, for the purchase and implementation of body worn cameras during the period from
October 21, 2019 through December 31, 2021; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute
such agreements and amendments as are necessary to implement the project on behalf of the
City of Lakeville and Lakeville Police Department.
