Resolution Setting Compensation and Reimbursement Rates for Firefighters
Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve the Resolution setting
compensation and reimbursement rates for Firefighters.
Overview
December 2018, the City Council approved Resolution 18-166 setting the compensation and
reimbursement rates for Firefighters. The pay structure changed to an hourly rate based on years
of service and rank/position.
From time to time, a business will request fire services, such as fire watch. Attached is an
amended resolution adding contracted fire services. Firefighters will be compensated $30 per
hour for contracted fire services. Contracted fire service hours will not be counted for call
attendance or training requirements.
The proposed firefighter rate for contracted fire services will be covered by the fire department
contracted services fee.
Primary Issues to Consider
• Passage of this resolution will provide a fair rate to a firefighter providing a contracted
fire service for a Lakeville organization.
