HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.f Date: December 16, 2019 Item No. RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATIONS FROM CUSTOMERS OF THE LAKEVILLE MUNICIPAL LIQUOR STORES Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Motion to approve resolution accepting donations valued at $20,566.15 on behalf of Lakeville Municipal Liquor customers to be used by the Lakeville Fire Department towards the restoration of the 1937 antique fire engine. Overview The Lakeville Municipal Liquor Stores hosted a fundraiser for the Lakeville Fire Department in the month of October 2019. Funds were raised for the restoration of the 1937 antique fire engine through the use of donation jars, rounding up at the registers and the sale of discounted club memberships. In addition to the donations, a transfer from the Liquor Fund will be provided to the Fire Department as a result of the proceeds from our second collaborative beer, Restoration 37. The value of these proceeds is $5,495.40. Total funds provided by the Liquor Department for the restoration of the antique fire engine are $26,061.55. Primary Issues to Consider Lakeville Liquors hosts up to three donation roundups annually as part of our ongoing community outreach endeavors. Supporting Information • Resolution Financial Impact: $20,566.15 Budgeted: N Source Related Documents (CIP, ERP) Envision Lakeville Community Values: A Sense of Community Value and Belonging Report Completed by: Brenda Visnovec, Liquor Operations Director CITY OF LAKEVILLE RESOLUTION NO.________ RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATIONS FOR THE RESTORATION OF THE LAKEVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT 1937 ANTIQUE FIRE ENGINE WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute 465.03 requires that all gifts and donation of real or personal property be accepted only with adoption of a resolution of the governing body; and WHEREAS, the City of Lakeville’s Municipal Liquors Stores have received donations of money in the amount of $20,566.15; and WHEREAS, the grants and donations were beneficial to the department, and WHEREAS, the additional revenues received may require the City to incur additional expenditures in order to comply with grant agreements and restricted donations. NOW, THEREFORE, IT BE RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakeville that the donations are hereby officially accepted and acknowledged with gratitude to the donors; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that City staff is authorized to amend the budget to comply with grant agreements and restrictive donations.
