HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.s Date: Item No. ACCEPTING DONATION TO THE LAKEVILLE POLICE DEPARMENT Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to accept a donation of $2,500 from ReStored Thrift Shop to the Lakeville Police Department. Overview The ReStore Thrift Shop, a non-profit business operating in Lakeville, is donating a $2,500 to LPD. The donation will be used to purchase specialized equipment for the police department that will be used to protect and serve the citizens of Lakeville. Primary Issues to Consider • Gifts and donations require approval of the City Council. • The Police Department appreciates the support of ReStored Thrift Shop and thanks them for their support. Supporting Information • None Financial Impact: $ 2,500 Budgeted: Y☐ N☐ Source: Related Documents: (CIP, ERP, etc.): Envision Lakeville Community Values: Safety Throughout the Community Report Completed by: Jeff Long, Police Chief December 16, 2019 CITY OF LAKEVILLE RESOLUTION NO._________ RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATION WHEREAS, Restored Thrift Store, a non-profit organization operated in Lakeville with a mission and vision of serving others, donated $2,500.00 to the Lakeville Police Department; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute 465.03 requires all gifts and donation of real or personal property be accepted only with the adoption of a resolution of the governing body. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakeville that the donation of $2,500.00 from Restored Thrift Store is hereby accepted; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Lakeville sincerely thanks Restored Thrift Shop and its Board of Directors for its generous donation.
