HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.g Date: Item No. Resolution Granting Extension of Temporary Pay Increase for Part-time Liquor Positions Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve resolution granting extension of temporary pay increase for part-time liquor positions. Overview During the state of emergency due to COVID-19, Lakeville Liquors is classified essential and part-time staff are scheduled to work to continue operations. The City Council recently approved a temporary pay increase for part-time liquor positions through April 30, 2020. Staff is recommending extending the temporary $2.00 pay increase for part-time liquor positions until the City Council declares an end to the local emergency due to COVID-19. Employee would not receive the temporary wage increase if they are on a COVID-19 leave status. Primary Issues to Consider • The Liquor Stores remain open during the COVID-19 pandemic. Temporarily increasing wages for part-time staff will continue to enhance recruitment and reduce turnover during this pandemic. Enterprise Liquor Fund CITY OF LAKEVILLE RESOLUTION NO. ____ RESOLUTION GRANTING EXTENSION OF TEMPORARY PAY INCREASE DUE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC FOR PART-TIME LIQUOR POSITIONS WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted pay plans from time to time to provide for the compensation of employees in various positions; and WHEREAS, during the state of emergency due to COVID-19, Lakeville Liquors is classified essential and part-time staff are schedule to work to continue operations; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the following be granted effective March 23, 2020: 1. Part-time lead sales associates and part-time sales associates receive a temporary pay increase of $2.00 per hour of the wage established in Resolution No. 17-137 for their applicable position and step. 2. No employee shall receive the temporary wage increase if on a COVID-19 leave status. 3. This resolution will remain in effect until the Lakeville City Council declares an end to the local emergency due to COVID-19.
