Subject: Petition for Traffic Signal on Co. Rd 70 and Hamburg Ave.
Attached is a petition that was submitted to Dakota County by 25 businesses in Airlake Industrial Park
regarding the lack of a traffic signal planned for the intersection of Co. Rd. 70 and Hamburg Avenue in
conjunction with the County project to widen Co. Rd. 70 to four lanes. The following businesses
submitted a petition:
Midstate Reclamation, Kambium Inc., Creekside Lawn and Landscape, Kiehm Construction Inc.,
Custom Stud Inc., Mor Golf and Utility, Uponor, Proturf Inc., Wausau Supply, Genpak, General
Transport Inc., Styer Transportation, Performance Office Papers, Consulting Engineers Group,
Menasha, Designed Cabinets Inc., Stampings of MN Inc., Polyethylene Technology, Airlake
Truck Body and Paint, Ganse / Trio Sales LLC, Grain Handler, American Cast Iron Pipe Co.,
Dayton Freight Lines, Overbye Transport Inc.
The primary concern of the businesses is their perceived safety concerns for vehicles including trucks
that will need to make left turns at Hamburg on to the west-bound lanes of Co. Rd. 70 without a traffic
signal controlled intersection.
City Engineer Zach Johnson will be in attendance at the meeting and will give an update on the status
of the Co. Rd. 70 project and will provide additional technical information on the County’s decision to
not include a traffic signal at the Hamburg Avenue intersection.
Action Requested: Provide feedback or ask additional questions on the issues and concerns included
in the petition submitted by the Airlake Industrial Park businesses.
