HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 05.bProclamation “National Night Out 2020” WHEREAS, the National Association of Town Watch is sponsoring a unique, nationwide crime, drug and violence prevention program on October 6, 2020, called “National Night Out”; and WHEREAS, “National Night Out” provides a unique opportunity for Lakeville to join forces with thousands of other communities across the country in promoting community; and WHEREAS, the City Council plays a vital role in supporting “National Night Out 2020” locally; and WHEREAS, it is essential that all citizens of Lakeville be aware of the importance of crime prevention and the impact that their participation can have on reducing crime, drugs and violence in Lakeville; and WHEREAS, community partnerships, neighborhood safety, awareness and cooperation are important themes of the “National Night Out” program; and WHEREAS, due to COVID-19, this “National Night Out” will be different than ones in past years. Most importantly, stay safe and follow State and local guidelines as you plan your “National Night Out” event. Based on recommendations of the National Association of Town Watch, Lakeville’s “National Night Out” event has been moved to October 6 this year to allow for more time to plan and adjust events accordingly. NOW, THEREFORE, WE THE CITY COUNCIL proclaim Tuesday, October 6, 2020, as “National Night Out” in Lakeville. Anderson, Mayor 2020 National Night Out Guidelines • All areas should follow the most current CDC guidelines. Visit CDC.gov. • Establish physical distancing protocols as required. • Wash hands with soap and water frequently. • Wear face coverings. • Disinfect all surfaces as much as possible. • Avoid touching your face. • Sneeze or cough into your face covering, a tissue, or the inside of the elbow. • Masks and gloves mandatory for those serving food and drinks. • Police Citizens will be glad to see you but keep your distance according to local protocols. NO exploring vehicles. • Fire Citizens welcome you to attend their Fire Prevention Week open house, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Fire Station 4, 9465 185TH Street. • If it is not safe to gather in large groups for any reason, make the appropriate decision with the safety of the community in mind. • Citizens are encouraged to turn on their outdoor lights from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. as a symbol of community, and to find new ways to get to know and support each other.
