HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.p Date: September 8, 2020 Item No. 2020 STORMWATER MANAGEMENT IMPROVEMENTS AGREEMENT WITH MINNESOTA DIRT WORKS AUTHORIZE FUNDING AND AMEND 2020 BUDGETS Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve Agreement with Minnesota Dirt Works for 2020 Stormwater Management Improvements, City Project 20-60; authorize funding and amend 2020 budgets. Overview The 2020 Stormwater Management Improvements project includes drainageway and storm sewer improvements within local watersheds near a) Iten Court; b) Isleton Avenue; and c) Linch Path. The improvements are designed to facilitate stormwater collection and conveyance and enhance the operations of the City’s stormwater management facilities, extend the useful life of public assets, and reduce future life-cycle maintenance/replacement costs. The City received three quotes for the 2020 Stormwater Management Improvements ranging from a low quote of $93,740 submitted by Minnesota Dirt Works to a high quote of $125,745. The Engineer’s estimated construction cost was $89,811. The City’s total estimated project cost is $122,000 (includes engineering costs and Minnesota Dirt Works construction contract). The attached Agreement provides the scope of work, cost and schedule for completing the project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Lakeville, Minnesota: The estimated project cost is $122,000 and anticipated funding sources are listed below. City staff is hereby authorized to amend the 2020 budgets (if needed as the project is completed) and make the appropriate transfers between funds with respect to the project funding sources up to 10% above the estimated costs. Funding transfers may include loans between funds to cover engineering and other costs incurred on the project in advance of receiving other funding. Date: September 2, 2020 Subject: City of Lakeville 2020 Stormwater Improvement Projects: City Project 20-60 City Action Requested Staff is recommending Council authorize a Notice of Award for completing the 2020 Stormwater Improvement Projects. Three contractors were invited to quote on the projects and all quotes were received by the stated deadline. Wenck has reviewed all submitted quotes and provides the following summary for consideration by Staff. Quote Results Three quotes were received on September 1, 2020 for the 2020 Stormwater Improvement Projects. Quote results are summarized below and detail in the attached table. Summary Contractor Total Bid Blackstone Contractors, LLC $ 107,869.41 Minnesota Dirt Works, Inc $ 93,740.00 Sunram Construction, Inc. $ 125,475.00 The low quote was Minnesota Dirt Works, Inc with a quote of $93,740.00. Engineer’s Recommendation The cost is competitive and consistent with the project estimates, therefore Wenck recommends that the contract for the base quote be awarded to Minnesota Dirt Works, Inc for $93,740.00
