HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.f Date: Item No. APPROVE CHANGE ORDER #1 FOR WATERMAIN BREAK PAVEMENT REPAIR PROJECT # 20-01 Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve change order#1 for watermain break pavement repair, Project 20-01. Overview Early morning on Friday August 21, 2020 a large watermain break occurred at the intersection of Ipava Avenue and 165th Street. The water from the break lifted and buckled the pavement on Ipava Avenue north of 165th Street so severely it made the road undrivable. It was necessary to replace approximately 600’ of the pavement north of the 165th Street. To expedite the replacement of the pavement replacement staff requested the contractor from this year’s miscellaneous project, Northwest Asphalt Inc., to remove the pavement and repave the watermain break areas. The Contractor agreed to complete the work at the unit prices bid in the contract. Funding for this pavement work will be paid for out of the water operating fund. Primary Issues to Consider • Why is a change order necessary for this project? A change order is necessary to document the expenses for change in the contract for the work that was added.
