RESOLUTION NO. 20-84
CARES ACT GRANT FOR FEDERAL ELECTION FUNDING
Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve resolution amending and
restating Resolution No. 20-84.
Overview
The City Council approved Resolution No. 20-84 on August 17th regarding use of the 2020
CARES Act Grant for 2020 Federal Election funding. At that time, the City had not received the
full document with the State/County agreement attached. We now have the State/County
agreement, which is attached to the County/City agreement as Exhibit A.
Primary Issues to Consider
The City Attorney recommends approval of the amended resolution to ensure the CARES Act
Grant funding agreement is enforceable.

RESOLUTION NO. 20-___
RESOLUTION AMENDING AND RESTATING RESOLUTION NO. 20-84
WHEREAS, the City of Lakeville has identified increased election expenses related to
the COVID-19 health pandemic; and
WHEREAS, Dakota County has received a 2020 CARES Act grant for increased
election expenses; and
WHEREAS, Dakota County has proposed to allocated default grant amounts to cities
through a County-Municipality Agreement attached hereto and incorporate herein as Exhibit A
(“Agreement”).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Lakeville hereby
selects the default funds allocation in the amount of $24,826.21 through the 2020 CARES Act
grant, to which the County is the Grantee, and acknowledges that it is subject to the provisions of
the 2020 CARES Act Grant Agreement as if it were the Grantee upon approving the Agreement;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Lakeville approves the Agreement and
authorizes the City Administrator to execute the Agreement and any amendments as are
necessary to receive and use the funding for the 2020 elections.
