HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 06.p Date: November 16, 2020 Item No. RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATIONS FROM CUSTOMERS OF THE LAKEVILLE MUNICIPAL LIQUOR STORES Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Motion to approve a resolution accepting donations valued at $13,262.05 on behalf of Lakeville Liquor customers to be used by the Lakeville Area Arts Center to support the expansion of the Art-Walk in Downtown Lakeville. Overview The Lakeville Liquor Stores hosted a fundraiser for the Lakeville Area Arts Center in the month of October 2020. Funds were raised to support the expansion of the Art-Walk in Downtown Lakeville through the use of donation jars, rounding up at the registers and the sale of discounted club memberships. Total funds provided by the Lakeville Liquor Stores for the expansion of the Art-Walk in Downtown Lakeville is $13,262.05. Primary Issues to Consider Lakeville Liquors hosts several fundraising events throughout the year as part of our ongoing community outreach. This event was hosted to provide an opportunity to support the Lakeville Area Arts Center and their ongoing effort to develop an art walk through Downtown Lakeville. Supporting Information • Resolution Financial Impact: $13,262.05 Budgeted: N Source Related Documents (CIP, ERP) Envision Lakeville Community Values: A Sense of Community Value and Belonging Report Completed by: Tana Wold, Liquor Operations Director CITY OF LAKEVILLE RESOLUTION NO.________ RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATIONS FROM CUSTOMERS OF THE LAKEVILLE LIQUOR STORES FOR USE BY THE LAKEVILLE AREA ARTS CENTER FOR THE EXPANSION OF THE ART WALK IN DOWNTOWN LAKEVILLE WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute 465.03 requires that all gifts and donation of real or personal property be accepted only with adoption of a resolution of the governing body; and WHEREAS, the City of Lakeville’s Liquors Stores have received donations of money in the amount of $13,262.05; and WHEREAS, the grants and/or donations were beneficial to the department, and WHEREAS, the additional revenues received may require the City to incur additional expenditures in order to comply with any grant agreements or restrictions to the donations. NOW, THEREFORE IT BE RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakeville that the donations are hereby officially accepted and acknowledged with gratitude to the donors; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that City staff is authorized to amend the budget to comply with any grant agreements or restrictions to the donations.
