City staff will present a summary of the Draft Dakota County 2040 Transportation Plan. Overview The Draft Dakota County 2040 Transportation Plan is developed in coordination with the Dakota County 2040 Comprehensive Plan. The County’s Transportation Plan is strategically completed at this time to incorporate land use updates that cities and townships have recently made to their respective comprehensive plans as part of their 10-year review cycle. The updated city and township land use information is applied in developing a new regional transportation model. The updated transportation model forecasts future travel volumes on existing and future transportation facilities, and is used to evaluate/prioritize future capital improvements projects. The County’s Transportation Plan is designed to provide the long-term framework (2021-2040) for planning, maintaining and improving the County’s transportation system. The transportation plan includes principles, investment goals, strategies, policies and performance measures that will serve as a guide for future capital improvements.
