ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 3, CHAPTER 1
OF THE LAKEVILLE CITY CODE
CONCERNING LIQUOR LICENSE FEES
Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to adopt an ordinance amending
Title 3, Chapter 1, of the Lakeville City Code concerning liquor license fees.
Overview
The City Council previously reduced the on-sale license fees for the 2020-2021 renewal period by
20%. Ordinance No. 1029, which was adopted on May 4, 2020, reduced the annual fees and
allowed payment to be submitted in two equal installments. The second half is due November
30, 2020.
As discussed at your November 23rd work session, the City wants to help local businesses that are
shuttered once again due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The attached ordinance further reduces
the on-sale license fees by 50%. For those who already paid the full amount, the city will either
issue a refund for the second half or apply that amount toward the 2021-2022 license.
Primary Issues to Consider
• What is the overall financial impact as a result of the fee reduction?
