CITY OF LAKEVILLE
DAKOTA COUNTY, MINNESOTA
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 7, CHAPTER 2
OF THE LAKEVILLE CITY CODE CONCERNING
WATER SURFACE USAGE
The Lakeville City Council ordains
Section 1. The caption of Chapter 2 of Title 7 of the
Lakeville City Code is amended from "Lake Marion" to read: "Water
Surface Usage".
Section 2. Section 7-2-1 of the Lakeville City Code is
amended by deleting the definition of Lake.
Section 3. Section 7-2-2(A) of the Lakeville City Code
is amended to read:
7-2-2 ZONES AND MAPS ESTABLISHED:
A. Districts: For the purpose of this Chapter, Lake
Marion is hereby divided into the following zones:
1. Slow minimum wake speed zone..
2. Speed zone.
Section 4. Section 7-2-3 of the Lakeville City Code is
amended to read:
7-2-3 Watercraft usage on Lake. Marion is subject to the
.following requirements:
A. SLOW MINIMUM WAKE .SPEED ZONE: It shall. be
unlawful for any watercraft to be operated faster
than the slow minimum wake speed in a slow minimum
.wake speed zone.
B. SPEED ZONE: The maximum speed limit in a speed
zone shall be forty {40) miles per hour except
that any power craft within two hundred feet
{200') of anchored fishermen, trolling fishermen,
nonpowered watercraft, buoys, docks, or swimmers
shall travel at a slow minimum wake speed.
C. TRAFFIC PATTERNS: All power boats, whether or .not
pulling water skiers, shall travel in a counter-
. clockwise direction of the "First Lake" as
indicated on Lake Marion surface map, except that
any watercraft launching or landing a person on
,skis, aquaplane, or similar device may do so by
,the most direct route to open water.
D. TIME RESTRICTIONS: From one-half (1~2) hour after
sunset until eight o'clock (8:00) A.M., watercraft
shall not tow a person on water skis, aquaplane,
or similar devices.
Section 5. Title 7, Chapter 2 of the Lakeville City
Code is amended by adding Section 7-2-5 to read as follows:
7-2-5 MOTORS. No person shall operate a watercraft with any
motor which exceeds ten (10) horsepower on the
following lakes:
A. Lake Kingsley
B. Lee Lake
Section 6. Title 7, Chapter 2 of the Lakeville City
Code is amended by adding Section 7-2-6 to read as follows:
7-2-6 EVENTS. No person shall hold, sponsor, or participate
in any scheduled or public race, regatta tournament, or
other competition or exhibition involving watercraft on
the following lakes:
A. Lake Kingsley
B. Lee Lake
Section 7, Title 7, Chapter 2 of the Lakeville City
Code is amended by adding Section 7-2-7 to read as follows:
7-2-7 ENFORCEMENT. The provisions of this Ordinance shall be
enforced by officers of the Dakota County Sheriff's
Water Patrol and conservation officers of the Minnesota
Department of Natural Resources.
.Section 8. Title 7, Chapter 2 of the Lakeville City
Code is amended by adding Section 7-2-8 to read as follows:
7-2-8 TIME RESTRICTION. Speed limits, maximum motor
horsepower, and event restrictions shall be enforced 24
hours a day.

immediately upon its passage and publication..
