HomeMy WebLinkAbout21-111CITY OF LAKEVILLE RESOLUTION NO. 21-111 Resolution Requesting Speed Limit Study Along County State Aid Highway 50 From Holyoke Avenue to County State Aid Highway 23 WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Transportation Commissioner is authorized to designate speed limits on public roadways per Minnesota Statute 169.14; and WHEREAS, pursuant to State Statutes, local authorities may request the Minnesota Department of Transportation Commissioner to perform a speed limit study when they believe the existing speed limits are greater or less than is reasonable or safe under existing conditions; and WHEREAS, County State Aid Highway 50 is under the jurisdiction of Dakota County; and WHEREAS, Dakota County, in partnership with the City of Lakeville; modernized County State Aid Highway 50 (202°d Street) between Holyoke Avenue and County State Aid Highway 23 (Cedar Avenue) from a 2 -lane rural highway to a 3 -lane urban highway in 2019/2020; and WHEREAS, current speed limits along this corridor have not been reviewed since County State Aid Highway 50 between Holyoke Avenue and County State Aid Highway 23 was improved; and WHEREAS, conditions along this corridor have sufficiently changed such that an engineering and traffic investigation is appropriate to determine the reasonable and safe speed limits. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lakeville, Minnesota, that Dakota County request the Minnesota Department of Transportation Commissioner to perform a speed limit study along County State Aid Highway 50 from Holyoke Avenue to County State Aid Highway 23.
