ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES
OCTOBER 23, 1990
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Berg at 7:00
p.m. in the City Hall kitchen/conference room.
Roll call of members was taken. Present: Berg, Brantly,
Detjen, Emond, Erickson, Matasosky, and Meledandri.
Absent: Tushie.
Also present was Bob Erickson, City Administrator; Daryl
Morey, Assistant Community Development Director; and Michael
Sobota, newly appointed Community and Economic Development
Director.
90.26 Motion was made by Emond, seconded by Matasosky to approve
the minutes of the August 28, 1990 Economic Development
Commission meeting.
Roll call was taken on the motion. Ayes: Unanimous.
Bob Erickson introduced newly appointed Community and
Economic Development Director Michael Sobota. Commission
members introduced themselves to Mr. Sobota and gave brief
• backgrounds on themselves. Mr. Sobota presented his
background to the Commission members.
Bob Erickson presented the Minnesota Department of Trade and
Economic Development 1990 Star City Award for Best Video to
the Commission. He stated that out of approximately 35
entrants, Lakeville came out the winner. Out of all
entrants, Lakeville was the only city that did not hire a
professional firm to produce their video. This award was
presented to the City at the annual Star City Conference in
September.
Bob Erickson presented a status update of the following
projects:
Miller Hartwig Insurance-Office Building (TIF)
Grist Mill
Arden International Kitchens
Alcorn Beverage
Performance Tool and Die
Chemtex
Belzer Automobile Showrooms
8 & S Tire
McStop Sign Plan Amendment
Johnson 70 Unit Apartment Complex

Jim Emond left the meeting at 8:00 p.m.
Commission members discussed the projects.
Under unfinished business, Commission members discussed the
resolution confirming and defining the purpose,
responsibilities, and terms of office for the Economic
Development Commission. Commission members felt it would be
wise to allow Michael Sobota the opportunity to analyze the
current structure of the Economic Development Commission and
present his findings at a subsequent meeting.
Bob Erickson shared with the Commission a marketing brochure
for a business park in another community as an idea to
assist in marketing the Fairfield Business Park. Commission
members directed staff to prepare a draft marketing brochure
along with associated production costs.
90.27 Motion was made by Erickson, seconded by Matasosky to
adjourn the meeting.
Roll call was taken on the motion. Ayes: Unanimous.
