HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-23-88 CITY OF LAKEVILLE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION MINUTES AUGUST 23, 1988 The meeting was called to order by Ben Meledandri, acting Chairman at 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall conference room Members present were: Meledandri, Emnnd, Halbach, Leslie, Zaun, Erickson. Also present was Daryl Morey, Assistant Community Development Director and Pat McGarvey, City Administrator. Mr. McGarvey presented the concept plan for the CBD Redevelopment Area prepared by Northwest Associated Consultants. 88.11 Mntinn was made by Zaun, seconded by Erickson that the Chair of the Commission will rotate until the end of the year. Mntinn carried unanimously. Mayor Zaun handed nut a brochure nn Management Training Program for Community Economic Development Professions sponsored by the College of St. Thomas Minnesota Center for Community Economic Development Small Business Development Centers. He instructed Commission members to notify Daryl Morey if they were interested in attending sn that he could relay that information to the City Council at their August 29, 1988 special meeting. Mayor Zaun also handed nut a letter from the Greater Minnesota Corporation regarding a new program it is considering regarding economic competitiveness. Mr. Steve Timm presented his proposal for a new business he would like to start and locate in Lakeville. Mr. Timm stated that if the ECD offers him assistance, he will locate his business in Lakeville. He stated that ideally he is looking for one investor to become the fourth partner in his current three investor group. Each partner would receive 25Y, of the profits. Elizabeth Halbach stated that 1500 invitations for the September Business Commerce and Industry Day are going to be mailed nut tomorrow because there have been delays from the printers. There will be a follow-up letter mailed nn September 6. The Commission members recommended putting the mailing list nn Computer at City Hall and cross-referencing the company names by type of business and location. The route of the tour was discussed at length. It was agreed to ammend the development map to include 1988 projects. There was discussion regarding notifying newspaper and television regarding Commerce and Industry Day. • The next meeting will be held nn September 20, 1988 to discuss Commerce and industry Day and a business retention program. 88.12 Motion was made by Erickson, seconded by Zaun to adjourn the meeting. • Motion passes unanimously.
