Memorandum

From: David L Olson, Community & Economic Development Director
Copy: Kati Bachmayer, Economic Development Coordinator
Date: March 22, 2022
Subject: Update on the Status of the 2020-2023 Strategic Plan for Economic Development
Staff has prepared a 2021 update on the status of the four Strategic Priorities that were included
in the 2020-2023 Strategic Plan. These priorities are:
• Business Retention, Expansion, & Diversification
• Maximize & Market Our Competitive Edge
• Housing to Support Economic Goals
• Workforce Availability & Utilization
It is staff’s opinion that there has been significant progress on most of the priorities identified in
the Strategic Plan during the past two years in spite of having to also address unanticipated issues
that came up as a result of the pandemic. I would also like to remind the EDC that in the second
half of next year, work will need to begin on the next 3-4 year strategic plan.
Action Requested: Provide feedback and comments as well as ask questions regarding the
attached Strategic Plan update.
