women who get together for their birthdays, each with
her own story, to drink, celebrate, commiserate and
support each other as they negotiate through marriage,
work, divorce, birth and kids, while solving the problems
of the world.

what the mice think. Actually, it’s a fresh retelling of
the Cinderella story that will have audience members

until the Prince decides to switch up the guest list for

TWINS OF FRANKLIN
Thursday, November 3, 2022 – 6 to 9 p.m.

The Twins of Franklin are not, in fact, twins. They
are two dear friends and Minneapolis musicians
Becky Shaheen and Laura Lou. After being regularly
mistaken as twins for years they decided to embrace
the label and with the help of their full band, they
put on live performances of original songs that contain traditional folk elements with spouts of
dance, pop, and even anthem rock. Their songs focus on themes of authenticity, self-love, and mental
wellness.

“I’ve Just Seen a Face,” “Blackbird,” “Yesterday,” “The Long and Winding Road,” “Go Now,” “Bluebird” and

This award-winning play, written by Ken Ludwig, is
about an acclaimed actor of the 1930s, William Gillette,
who invites his Sherlock Holmes co-stars to his eccentric
Connecticut mansion for a Christmas Eve celebration.
But when one of the guests is murdered, Gillette himself
assumes the persona of his beloved Holmes to track
down the killer before another victim appears.

The Thirsty River has an undeniable passion that
is constantly pushing the limits of Americana
music and is not to be defined by their first
two studio albums, “The St. Croix Sessions” and
“Waffles. They encompass intimate and energetic
performances with dynamic harmonies and
inevitable on-stage banter. Creating songs about
whisky, tobacco, beer, heartache, whisky, growin’
old, workin’ hard, whisky, chewin’, ramblin’ and
whisky; they are sure to play something that
both you and your grandparents will enjoy.

The Mini-Nutcracker is a delightful abbreviated version
of Twin Cities Ballet’s classic, “A Minnesota Nutcracker,”

Award-winning guitarist Billy McLaughlin
is the leader of Simple Gifts, a six-member
ensemble that has gained a loyal following
for its acoustic, instrumental and vocal
renditions of yuletide carols, hymns and
seasonal favorites such as “Carol of the
Bells,” “Silent Night” and “God Rest Ye
Merry Gentlemen.” The ensemble uses its
Celtic whistle, piano, acoustic guitar and

On November 10, 1975, the S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald sank
during a storm in Lake Superior, taking with it 29 men.
Inspired by the Gordon Lightfoot song “The Wreck of the
Edmund Fitzgerald,” the tragedy is told in story and song
through the characters involved – the captain, the crew,
the widows, the owners.

The Arts Center brings together people of all ages and skill levels through a variety of art mediums.
Our instructors provide a warm and welcoming environment in which students are encouraged to
grow and learn in their creative endeavors.
ADULT ART CLASSES
POTTERY: WHEEL
THROWING &
HANDBUILDING
Demonstrations will cover handbuilding and
wheel throwing techniques for all levels. Students
work at their own pace with both individualized
and group instruction.
OIL OR ACRYLIC
PAINTING
All skill levels are welcome in this step-by-step
approach to painting. Learn to express your
own artistic voice and hone your personal style
through one-on-one guidance. By the end of
class, you will complete one or two paintings in
your choice of oil or acrylics.
WATERCOLOR
PAINTING
Come and explore the wonder of watercolor
by learning the fundamentals and techniques
of this exciting medium. Demonstrations and
a wide range of subject matter will help you
gain self-confidence. By the end of the session
you can expect to go home with two or three
completed paintings.
SPECIALTY
WORKSHOPS
The workshops are designed to offer a variety of
mediums such as silver clay jewelry, glass fusing,
knitting, art journaling and much more.

WORKSHOPS
Starting with a clay slab, we will add fun textures,
embellishments and glaze in bright shiny colors.
Each workshop meets twice, once to make the
featured handbuilding project and another to
glaze.
KIDS POTTERY WHEEL
We offer a variety of opportunities for kids to
learn how to throw on the wheel. In each class,
students will create a variety of hand-thrown
pots complete with a glazed finish. No experi-
ence necessary.
SPECIALTY
WORKSHOPS
Throughout the year a variety of youth
workshops are offered including art samplers,
jewelry, summer art camps and more.
KIDS ACRYLIC &
WATERCOLOR
PAINTING
Create instructor-led paintings with a variety
of subject matters. This is a great class for
introducing your child to a wonderful life-long
hobby of painting.
GALLERY EXHIBITS
The Arts Center gallery features a variety of
artwork by local artists. Past exhibits have
included a vast array of unique items including
pottery, paintings, photography, mixed media
and much more. In addition to giving local artists
more public exposure, the exhibits add another
dimension of art education to the community.
