HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-15-99 • •-y CITY OF LAKEVILLE SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING TUNE 15, 1999 Mayor Zaun called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m. Roll call was taken. Present: Council Members Ryan, Sindt, Mulvihill and Mayor Zaun. Absent: Council Member Luick. Also present: R. Knutson, City Attorney; B. Erickson, City Administrator, D. Martens, Chief of Police; B. Forbord, Investigator; C. Friedges, City Clerk. The City Attorney presented a draft ordinance that would temporarily restrict sexually oriented uses within any zoning district of the City of Lakeville. He explained that the City's newly adopted Comprehensive Plan is currently before the Metropolitan Council for approval. Once that approval process is complete, the City Council will engage in the process of reviewing the City's zoning ordinance, making it consistent with the Comprehensive Plan. This temporary moratorium provides the City with a ~~time out" in which to consider the appropriate locations in the community .for sexually oriented businesses. He pointed out that this ordinance does not include sexually oriented accessory uses, such as adult video and bookstores. Mr. Knutson explained that this interim ordinance would remain in effect until January 1, 2000. However, if the City's review process is not complete by that date, the moratorium could be extended to a total duration of two and one-half years. Mayor Zaun stated Council .Member Luick had communicated his support for the adoption of this ordinance. 99.113 Motion was made by Mulvihill, seconded by Sindt to adopt Ordinance No: 651, an interim ordinance placing temporary restrictions on the siting. of .sexually oriented uses within any zoning district of the City of Lakeville.
