HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-18-2022Youth Advisory Commission Minutes, December 18, 2022 Page 1 CITY OF LAKEVILLE YOUTH ADVISORY COMMISSION MINUTES December 18, 2022 6:30 p.m. Chair Knock Swanson called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Members Present: Youth Advisory Commission Members: Faisal Ali, Rylee Eykyn, Ella Fowler, Caitlyn Holl, Aaimah, Khawaja, Peyton Knock Swanson, Iftinta Mohamed, Faadumo Mohamed, Eston Moulder, Ava Nielson, Katie Sheehan Members Absent: Katherine Krogstad Staff Present: Courtney Miller, Assistant to the City Administrator Ex Officio Members Present: City Council Member John Bermel, Paul Oehme, Public Works Director 1. Approval of Minutes The November 20, 2022, Youth Advisory Commission meeting minutes were approved as presented. 2. Introduction of Officers Ms. Miller introduced the new officers and gave a brief overview of the ir duties. The officers are: Peyton Knock Swanson, Chair; Iftinta Mohamed, First Vice Chair; and Ella Fowler, Second Vice Chair. 3. Public Works Director Paul Oehme Public Works Director Oehme provided an overview of the Public Works department, including the functions of construction services, engineering, environmental resources, facilities, forestry, streets, and utilities. 4. City Councilmember John Bermel City Councilmember Bermel provided an introduction of himself, including his family, career, and interests. He discussed his role on the City Council and other committees and boards. Looking ahead to 2023, Councilmember Bermel is excited to see the Antler’s Park project come to fruition. 5. Priority Projects Commissioners discussed the top priorities that surfaced at last month’s meeting. They decided to start, they would focus on two topics: mental health awareness and attending school group/organization meetings to obtain ideas to bring to the Commission. The Commissioners broke into two subcommittees and started discussions on how to accomplish their ideas and goals. 6. Tour of the Central Maintenance Facility Public Works Director Oehme gave a tour of the Central Maintenance Facility. 7. Next Meeting The January meeting will be held on January 15, 2023 and will take place at one of Lakeville’s fire stations. Ms. Miller will send an email once a location has been confirmed.
