HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 02a -Draft 2025 meeting datesCity of Lakeville Memorandum To:Planning Commission From:Kris Jenson, Planning Manager Date:November 25, 2024 Subject:2025 Meeting dates In an effort to reduce surprises or confusion when meeting dates may need to change, staff is proposing making any possible meeting date changes now, so Commissioners are able to add these to their calendars for planning purposes. The proposed 2025 meeting dates are as follows: January 2 – shift to January 9 January 16 – shift to January 23 February 6 February 20 March 6 March 20 April 3 April 17 May 1 – shift to May 8? May 15 – shift to May 22? June 5 June 19 July 3 – cancel due to Independence Day holiday July 17 August 7 August 21 September 4 September 18 October 2 – shift to October 9? October 16 – shift to October 23? November 6 November 20 December 4 December 18 The January dates will be shifted to January 9 and January 23 as a January 2 meeting date would require Community Development staff to prepare and publish the agenda and packet during the week of Christmas, when most staff have taken time off and won’t be available. Shifting these two dates also puts the PC meetings on the same week as the City Council meetings. Consideration should be given to shifting the May meetings – the 1st and the 15th. Not only are these dates offset from City Council meetings, but the Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resources Commission (PRNRC) meets on the first and third Wednesdays of the month, so their meetings would be offset from Planning Commission. This can raise issues as the PRNRC reviews and makes recommendations to City Council on most residential plats, utilizing the reports drafted by Planning and Engineering. Shifting the PC meetings to May 8 and 22 puts the meetings back on schedule to align with PRNRC meetings. th. While this would mean that the PC meetings are offset from City Council, the meetings would still align with the PRNRC meeting schedule. The other consideration is that the October 16 meeting would fall over MEA, which can be a conflict for staff and applicants at times.
