EDC minutes 4.23.24 DRAFT CITY OF LAKEVILLE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES April 23, 2024 Acting Chair Collman called the meeting to order at 4:02 p.m. in the Marion Conference Room. Comms. Victor Arredondo, Rebecca Bergin, Rick Bjorklund, Lowell Collman, Joe Eykyn, Jack Matasosky, Andrew Phillips, Glenn Starfield, John Swaney Mayor Luke Hellier, Chamber President Krista Jech Comm. Don Seiler Tina Goodroad, Community Development Director; Kati Bachmayer, Economic Development Manager Jason Aarsvold, Ehlers Approval of February 27, 2024, Meeting Minutes Comms. Matasosky / Starfield moved to approve the minutes of the February 27 meeting Election of Officers An election of officers was held during the April meeting. Acting Chair Collman opened the floor for nominations from EDC members. Comm. Phillips nominated a slate of officers – Don Seiler, Chair; Lowell Collman, Vice Chair; Andrew Phillips, Secretary. Hearing no additional nominations, Acting Chair Collman closed nominations and held a vote. Strategic Plan for Economic Development Ms. Bachmayer provided an overview of the previous strategic planning process and the 2020-2023 Strategic Plan for Economic Development executive summary. The four strategic priorities from that plan are 1. Business Retention, Expansion and Diversification; 2. Maximize and Market Our Competitive Edge; 3. Housing to Support Economic Goals; 4. Workforce Availability and Utilization. Following that presentation, Mr. Aarsvold reviewed the definition and purpose of strategic planning, as well as current market conditions and results from the SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) interviews. EDC Economic Development Commission Minutes April 23, 2024 Page | 2 members were then broken into three small groups for further SWOT discussion. Notes from those conversations were shared with Ehlers and will be incorporated in the next strategic planning session in May. Reschedule May meeting Alternate dates for the May meeting were discussed, due to its proximity to Memorial Day and a scheduling conflict. Those present agreed that Thursday, May 23 was an acceptable alternate meeting date. The entire EDC will be polled before making the date change.
