Members Present: Jean R, Patricia R, Dorothy H., Cindy J, Wayne S, Edie B, Bridget S. Excused: Bobbie H., Diane S. STAFF REPORT a. As of November 1, there are 1599 members, with 19 new members since October !!! b. MDC cards are selling well - 285 boxes sold - $3,362.50 - on par from last year - net.. c. Cameras are installed in the Atrium and Game Room for 2024. These will be monitored 24/7 in Karrie, Christy’s, and Bridget areas. The exterior camera for the back parking lot is being looked at for the 2025 budget. d. Bake Sale as of Monday, December 9, took in $779.00 up 4.75 from 2023. e. Active Adults financial sheet - balance on 11/30/24, is $20,879.32. This is prior to the piano dolly and keyboard expenditure. f. December luncheon - Ham Dinner, 75 attended, price is $14 per person. Cindy, Jean, Patricia, Edie, Wayne hosted and served. Neals Healthy Meals catered. Classic Voices provided the entertainment. g. Grace Note trio will sing at the Holiday Social on Dec. 13 and Santa Claus will be in attendance. 160 members have signed up for the event. PROGRAM AND ACTIVITY UPDATE a. Brain and Balance workshop - well attended, two levels, beginner and advanced beginner. b. Minnesota Zoo presentation on Dec.11 - weather dependent - wind chill factor could cause a reschedule. c. Beginner Line dancing class - extremely popular - needing alternate dates and room.. d. Essentrics update - will be on Wednesday afternoon beginning in January. e. Community Outreach leader needed. f. Pen Pal set and ready to go in January, 27 kids for a Farmington elementary school. g. 63 Thanksgiving meals were purchased and picked up. h. Backgammon on a break until March i. Drum Fit on a break until March j. Silver Sneakers down to one class until March. LUNCHEON MENU AND ENTERTAINMENT FOR 2025. January - Pot Roast/garlic mashed potatoes - Veg Medley February - No luncheon - Mardi Gras celebration in place of it. March - Corned Beef, Cabbage , soda bread, boiled potatoes. April - Ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, fresh fruit. NOTE: Neals Healthy Meals has merged with “Grace Filled Table” UNFINISHED BUSINESS Page 22 of 27 a. The Grand Piano and new keyboard: The keyboard purchase was $588.60 and the Grand Piano dolly was $808.00 and is installed. Right on target for our requirements and budget. b. The Holiday Social is December 13 from 11am to 1pm. Highview Hills, Senior Helpers, Kingsley Shores, Beehive and more are scheduled to contribute appetizers and deserts. All members of the committee wil host and serve. NEW BUSINESS a. Mardi Gras on February 11, one month early in 2025 and we need the Dixieland Band scheduled. b. For 2025, Bridget is asking for help from the committee to solicit gift card donations from local retailers and stores. c.Up for discussion - Next December (2025) only schedule the Holiday Social and not the regular December luncheon as they both are in the same week. The meeting adjourned early at 2:45 - as the conference room was no longer available - rented out at 3:00. Next LAAA Advisory Committee meeting is Tuesday, January 14 at 1:30 pm. Minutes submitted by Edie Bonne Page 23 of 27 LAKEVILLE AREA ACTIVE ADULTS Advisory Committee Minutes November 12, 2024, following the luncheon at the Heritage Center Heritage Center Conference Room at 1:45 Members Present: Bobbie H., Jean R, Patricia R, Diane S, Cindy J, Wayne S, Edie B, Bridget S. Excused: Dorothy H. STAFF REPORT a. November Luncheon - approximately 70 members attended. Neals Healthy Meals catered a traditional turkey meal. With the help of volunteers, Diane, Jean, Cindy, Patricia, Edie, and Bobbie hosted. The entertainment was Turkey Bingo and Cindy was the bingo caller. b. Bridget distributed the current Escrow Balance sheet - end balance as of 10/31/2024, $20,906.25. Approved by all. c. As of October 1, there are 1597 members, with 22 members since September!!! d. MDC cards are selling well - 251 boxes sold - $3,137.50 for Bridget’s budget. e. The Waffle Breakfast was a disappointment - only 395 plates, after expenses, netted only $846.55. This led to an open discussion of; is this something we want to continue to do annually. This has been tabled. f. Cameras have been approved for installation in the Atrium and Game Room for 2024. These will be monitored 24/7 in Karrie, Christy’s, and Bridget areas. The exterior camera for the back parking lot has been approved for the 2025 budget. PROGRAM AND ACTIVITY UPDATE a. Denim & Lace Dance, 49 plus enjoyed the dance along with Apple Valley seniors. b. Halloween Costume Contest - 26 costumed with pictures and 4 winners. c. Estate Planning workshop - 2 part series, with 25 participants. d. Sound Healing - 20 members. Would like to have this monthly. Room availability??. e. Intro to Calligraphy- 15 members. Session II will be December 5. f. Brain and Balance - workshop - very popular - Every Tuesday g. Election Results - Presentation by Frank Sachs. November 13. h. The Challenge of Stuff - Nov 14. Members bring one item for appraisal. i. Story Man - Doug Car - Nov 18, a veteran presentation. j. Minnesota Zoomobile - December 11. Free to members. LUNCHEON MENU AND ENTERTAINMENT FOR 2024. a. UNFINISHED BUSINESS a. 2025 Luncheon Menu - January : Pot Roast - Garlic Mash Potatoes - Veg Medley February : No Luncheon. Cindy made the motion and Patricia seconded - we will do the Mardi Gras celebration - early on February 11 from 1:00 to 2:30. We will need the DixieLand Band scheduled and sponsored. There will be no LAAA monthly meeting. b. Wayne completed the research for the Grand Piano dolly. There were no used ones for purchase and it was agreed by all to purchase it from Walmart online as it includes shipping - $800.00 approx. Wayne and his helper will install it. A dolly is necessary for moving the piano as needed for various activities in the Heritage Room. c. The electronic keyboard - Yamaha P45 will be purchased from Groth Music Center in Bloomington. A bench and stand will be included. This replaces the upright piano in the Atrium, This was a better option long term for this area, d. The Recognition Board criteria and placement is on hold till 2025. NEW BUSINESS a. Holiday Bake Sale Fundraiser - Saturday December 7th. Sign-up sheets provided for bake sale contributions. Committee Members to price and manage the sale. b. Holiday Social - December 13 from 11am to 1pm. 160 members have signed up - maximum capacity for the Heritage Room. Committee members will host the buffet and set-up and clean-up. The meeting adjourned early at 2:45 - the conference room was no longer available - rented out at 3:00. Minutes submitted by Edie Bonne Page 25 of 27 LAKEVILLE AREA ACTIVE ADULTS Advisory Committee Minutes January 14, 2025, 1:15 pm,following the luncheon at the Heritage Center Members present: Jeanne, Diane, Dorothy, Bobbie,Wayne, Edie, Bridget. Excused: Particia, Cindy 1. Staff Report a. Active Adults financial sheet balance as of 12-31-2024: $17,693.70. b. On December 1, there were 1607 members with 33 new members since 1-10-2025. c. there is a working plan for the back parking lot security cameras. 2. Program Update a. MDC cards sold in 2024: 306 = $3,825.00. b. Holiday Social was again a huge success. Twelve sponsors contributed to the refreshments and entertainment. The LAAA committee assisted in hosting and preparation. Next LAAA meeting in March - add agenda item to discuss charging for the event to members, if so, how much, where does the income go, need all members present.Is it a holiday gift to the members??? 160 is the maximum that can be accommodated. If there are no shows - set up a waitlist. c. Home Instead - this company donated 50+gifts that we were able to use for our activities. December 17 was Blanket Bingo and all who attended received a blanket. d. MN Zoo presentation is rescheduled due to cold weather for March 12. e. The LV Arts Center is collaborating with us on free upcoming art outreach projects: Members may sign up for one of the following choices: Ceramic Drop Plate, Watercolor Art of the Resist, Ceramic Hand Built Mug. f. We are still looking for a Community Outreach Leader volunteer position. g. The Presidential Powers, Duties, & Limitations lecture series is well received. January 8 - February 19. h. January luncheon - hosted and served by Jeanne, Edie, Bobbie, Wayne, and Diane. Pot Roast, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Green beans served to 36 people. Bingo was the Entertainment. Neals Healthy Meals catered. 3. Luncheon Menus and Entertainment for 2025. a, May - Chicken Teriyaki, Asian Salad , b. June- Pulled Park, Cole Slaw, Baked Beans c. July - No LUNCHEON - Gift Card Bindo fundraiser instead. d. Aug - Antlers Park- Pizza and Watermelon Party There will be park assistance this time for set-up and take down tables. Jeanne made a motion to have it at the park, Bobbie seconded the motion and it was carried. 4. Unfinished Business a. Mardi Gras celebration on February 11, 1 - 2:30. $5:00 fee for members. King cakes and hurricane punch and socializing. Come dressed in green, purple,gold. Page 26 of 27 Sweet Kneads in Farmington cakes are $20.00. Dixieland combo banc will be the entertainment. Volunteers come at 11:00 for set-up and decorate. b. Bridget requested assistance from the committee to ask for gift card donations from local businesses and retailers. Wayne, Cindy, Jeanne, Bobbie and Diane readily accepted and took assignments for approximately 40 and we need about 15 more to complete the list. c. Monthly luncheons for 2025 in February and July are canceled due to additional events. Edie made the motion and Dorothy seconded that we do not have a December luncheon because of the Holiday Social. The motion was carried and all approved. The LAAA committee will still hold the monthly meeting. 5. New Business a. Additional bus counts for day trips?? Day trips are collaborated with Apple Valley, Rosemount, and Farmington. When the trip is with Apple Valley, there are 25 seats for Apple Valley seniors and 25 for Lakeville members. With Rosemont and Farmington, there are 17 seats each. There is no van that can accommodate extra attendance. If each city does not meet their quota, then those that are on a waitlist can be contacted for the trip. b. Any updates for the Heritage Center requirements? Tabled. Budget plans. c. Advisory committee members whose terms are expiring in April. Edie Bonne, Dorothy Helm, Diane Swanson, and Wayne Stang. The renewal applications will be given in February and the deadline for submission is the second week of March. The positions are open to the rest of the membership and will be in the March/April newsletter. d. Anything else for the good of the order? Has there been any discussion to raise membership fees for Lakeville singles and couples, etc. Bridget to research how long it has been $20.00 and $35.00 annual fee for joinging LAAA. Note: The CDBG funds are now at a minimum so it will be running out. This benefit is only available while the funds last. There will be no meeting in February.
