ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION
MEETING MINUTES
May 27, 2025
1. Vice Chair Bjorklund called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. in the Marion Conference
Room.
Members Present: Comms. Rebecca Bergin, Rick Bjorklund, Joe Eykyn, Roz Peterson, John
Ricketts, Don Seiler
Ex-officio Members Present: Chamber President Krista Jech, City Administrator Justin
Miller, City Mayor Luke Hellier
Members Absent: Lowell Collman
Staff Present: Tina Goodroad, Community Development Director; Kati Bachmayer,
Economic Development Manager, Dawn Erickson, Senior Administrative Assistant
Guest Speaker: Sam Seafeldt, Airlake Airport Manager
2. Approval of Minutes
a. April 22, 2025 EDC Meeting Minutes
Comms. Peterson / Seiler moved to approve the minutes of the April 22, 2025 meeting.
Motion carried unanimously.
3. Guest Speaker
a. Airlake Airport
Sam Seafeldt, Airlake Airport Manager, provided statistical information about Airlake
Airport’s traffic counts and economic impact, as well as an update on the status of current
and planned airport improvements and private hangar development. Mr. Seafeldt stated
Airlake Airport has 140 based Aircraft, 42,000 annual operations with a 4,099 foot
runway that is planned to be extended to 4,850 feet. Airlake Airport saw 10% increased
operational activity from 2023 to 2024, which was the second largest growth of all the
Metropolitan Airports Commission reliever airports.
EDC members asked questions and provided feedback.

a. MREJ Southeast Metro Development Summit
Ms. Bachmayer shared that Community Development staff hosted a booth to promote
Lakeville at the Minnesota Real Estate Journal’s Southeast Metro Development Summit
on May 22, 2025. Community Development Director Tina Goodroad moderated a panel
discussion about experiential retail that featured B-52 Burgers & Brew and Dakota
Curling Club.
b. May Economic Development Report
Ms. Bachmayer and Ms. Goodroad highlighted a few recent development projects and
new businesses in Lakeville. In May, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for Lakeville
35 Logistics Center, a ribbon cutting celebration was held at Tareen Dermatology and
Midwest Ear, Nose & Throat Specialists opened in its new location.
Ms. Goodroad shared that Community Development staff recently issued a Request for
Proposals for the Cedar Avenue Corridor Land Use and Market Analysis.
Ms. Jech shared that the first relaunched year of Leadership Lakeville was a success and 14
people graduated from the program. She stated that the Mayor, Ms. Goodroad and Ms.
Bachmayer were involved in the planning and programming, including a bus tour of the
city in May for their final session.
c. Business Retention Expansion Update
Commissioner Bergin shared that the May BRE visits she participated in were successful.
Ms. Bachmayer shared alternate June and July dates for upcoming BRE visits and
requested EDC members register to participate in future visits by using the Sign Up
Genius link.
5. Other
The next EDC meeting will be held on June 24, 2025.
