• SAFETY AND HEALTH
POLICY
The personal safety and health of each employee of the City of Lakeville and the prevention
of occupationally induced injuries and illness is of primary importance. To the greatest
degree possible, management will maintain a safety and health program conforming with the
best practices of organizations of this type and will provide mechanical and physical
facilities for personal safety and health. This program may also include reimbursement for
safety shoes to employees in positions required to wear them for work safety as determined
by management. To be successful, such a program must embody the proper attitudes
toward injury and illness prevention on the part of all employees.
1. The responsibilities for safety and health must be shared:
a) The employer, through the Municipal Safety Committee, is responsible for
leadership of the safety and health program, for its effectiveness and
improvement, and for providing the safeguards required to ensure safe
conditions.
b) Supervisors are responsible for developing the proper attitudes toward safety
and health in themselves and in those they supervise; and for ensuring that all
• operations are performed with utmost regard for the safety and health of all
personnel involved.
c) Employees are responsible for genuine cooperation with all aspects of the
safety and health program, including compliance with all rules and
regulations, and for continuously practicing safety while performing their
duties.
Only through a cooperative effort can a safety record in the best interest. of all be
established and preserved.
2. Safety Shoe Reimbursement.
The City will reimburse up to $65.00 (sixty-five dollars) per year to eligible
employees who are required to wear safety shoes. Reimbursement claims must be
submitted to the Finance Department on a claim form provided by the City and must
include a copy of the purchase receipt.
