RESOLUTION MODIFYING THE EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK
FOR EMPLOYEE HOLIDAYS
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Lakeville that effective January 1, 2000, the policy on pages 44 and 45 of the Employee
Handbook, "Holidays" is hereby rescinded and replaced with "Holidays" dated January
1, 2000 as attached.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 20th day of December, 1999.

HOLIDAYS
POLICY
1. The following legal holidays will be observed as paid holidays for all permanent
City employees:
New-. Year's Day, January 1
Martin Luther King's Birthday, third Monday in January
Washington's and Lincoln's Birthday, third Monday in February
Memorial Day, last Monday in May
Independence Day, July 4
Labor Day, first vlonday in September-
Veterans Day, I~`ovember 11
Thanksgiving Day, fourth Thursday in November
Day after Thanksgiving, fourth Friday in November
Christmas Eve, December 24
Christmas Day, December 25
provided that when New Year's Day, Independence Day, Veterans Day, or
Christmas Day falls on Sunday, the following day shall be a holiday; and provided
that when New 1"ear's Day, Independence Day, Veterans Day, or Christmas Day
falls on Saturday. the preceding day shall be a holiday. Whenever December 24`''
falls on a Friday. Thursday shall be designated as the Christmas Eve holiday.
When December ?4`'' falls on a Sunday, the following Tuesday shall be designated
as the Christmas Eve holiday.
2. Nonexempt employees who are required to be on duty on any holiday, or who
agree to be on duty on any holiday, will be compensated at one and one-half (1 1/2)
times their regular rate of pay. This pay shall be in addition to their holiday pay.
For hours worked in excess of their work schedule day they shall be paid at double
(2) their hourly rate of pay.
3. Employees covered by a collective bargaining agreement shall be governed by said
collective bargaining agreement in regard to policy on holidays.
