RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ESTABLISHING A
20 MPH SCHOOL SPEED ZONE LIMIT AND
PEDESTRIAN CROSSING ON 165TH STREET
AT OAK HILLS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statute 169.14, Subd. 5a enables local authority to establish school zone
speed limits on roadways within their jurisdiction, and
WHEREAS, a pedestrian crossing on 165tH Street at Horizon Avenue is necessary for students
walking to and from school, and
WHEREAS, SRF Consulting Group, Inc. has completed a traffic and engineering investigation of
the school site for establishment of a school zone speed limit and a pedestrian crossing, and
WHEREAS, this traffic and engineering investigation has recommended appropriate signs to
establish a 20 MPH school speed zone limit on 165tH Street and a pedestrian crossing on 165tH
Street per traffic engineering review, Exhibit A attached.
• NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, a 20 MPH school speed zone limit is authorized to be
established on 165tH Street at Oak Hills Elementary School, and a pedestrian crossing will be
established on 165t" Street at Horizon Avenue, and the Director of Operations & Maintenance is
directed to erect appropriate signs designating speed limit and pedestrian crossing.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 7th day of September, 1999, by the City Council of the City of
Lakeville.
