RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF SOFTWARE, SUPPLIES AND
EQUIPMENT TO MAKE THE EMERGENCY 911 SYSTEM COMPONENTS Y2K
COMPLIANT AND APPROVING A TRANSFER FROM THE GENERAL FUND TO
THE POLICE STATION REMODELING FUND
WHEREAS, the Emergency 911 (E911) components will fail if it is not made Y2K
compliant; and
WHEREAS, the E911 system is critical to the delivery of police, fire, ambulance and
other public safety functions; and
WHEREAS, it is urgent that the Emergency 911 system be made Y2K compliant; and
• WHEREAS, competitive bids were received on April 21, 1994 for acquisition of the
Emergency 911 system and the City Council approve Resolution 94-100 on May 16, 1994
whereby Nine One One Inc. was awarded the contract for the Emergency 911 system; and
WHEREAS, Nine One One Inc. is the only source for the software, supplies and
equipment that must be purchased for the Lakeville Emergency 911 system.
WHEREAS, the cost of software update is $55,760 and exceeds the Police Construction
Station Remodeling Fund budget by $15,007.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council. of the City of Lakeville:
l . The purchase of the software, supplies and equipment specified on the quote from
Nine-One-One Inc. dated July 19, 1999 is hereby approved for $52,680.00 in
addition to $3,079.70 of sales tax for a total of $55,759.70.
2. The City's Finance Director shall notify the Year 2000 project officer in the
Department of Administration that the City has made the purchase without bidding
pursuant to Minnesota Statute 604B.01.
3. A transfer of $15,007.00 shall be made from the General Fund Contingency to the
• Police Station Remodeling Fund.
