RESOLUTION PROHIBITING MOTOR VEHICLE TRAFFIC
ON JUNO TRAIL FROM 205TH STREET TO THE
NORTH LINE OF SECTION 25, TOWNSHIP 114 NORTH,
RANGE 21 WEST AND PROVIDING SEASONAL MOTOR VEHICLE
ACCESS TO JUNO TRAIL FOR ADJACENT PROPERTY OWNERS.
WHEREAS, the plans for City Improvement Project No. 93-12 (Sanitary Sewer,
Watermain, Storm Sewer and Street and Trail Improvements for 202nd Street/Juno Trail)
propose the closing of a portion of Juno Trail to motor vehicle traffic; and
• WHEREAS, closure of a portion of Juno Trail to motor vehicle traffic will promote
the use of the southwesterly shore of Lake Marion as a public right-of--way for pedestrian and
bicycle traffic, and will also enhance the natural amenities of Lake Marion; and
WHEREAS, the City intends to designate a portion of Juno Trail as a bikeway; and
WHEREAS, a pedestrian trail located within the proposed bikeway would be
complementary to the proposed uses of Juno Trail; and
WHEREAS, owners of property upon which Juno Trail is located requested that
motor vehicles be allowed to access the lake shore in the spring and fall of each year for the
purposes of installing, removing, repairing and maintaining privately owned boat docks, boat
lifts, and similaz equipment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Lakeville:
1. Effective February 5, 1996, Juno Trail from 205th Street to the north section
line of Section 25, Township 114 North, Range 21 West (as fully depicted on Exhibit "A"
incorporated and attached hereto) is designated a bikeway pursuant to Minn. Stat. § 160.263.
2. Effective February 5, 1996, motor vehicle traffic on Juno Trail from 205th
Street to the north section line of Section 25, Township 114 North, Range 21 West is
prohibited. Pedestrian and bicycle traffic aze permitted.

3. Juno Trail at 205th Street and on Juno Trail south of Caspersen Park shall be
posted with appropriate signage and other traffic controls to carry out the intent of this
Resolution.
4. Motor vehicles may be allowed on the portion of Juno Trail described in
paragraph 1 to allow adjacent property owners to install, remove, repair and maintain
privately owned boat docks, boat lifts and similar equipment. Prior to using Juno Trail for
such purposes, each property owner shall notify the City's Parks and Recreation Department.
Each property owner shall execute a Release of Liability in .favor of the City on a form
approved by City staff. Each such property owner accessing Juno Trail by motor vehicle
shall use care and caution in order to prevent property damage to any public or private
property, as well as to prevent injuries to anyone.
ADOPTED this 5th day of February , 1996, by the City Council of the City of
Lakeville.
