HomeMy WebLinkAbout96-193 CITY OF LAKEVILLE • DAKOTA COUNTY, MINNESOTA DATE: November 4, 1996 RESOLUTION NO: 96-193 MOTION BY: Sindt SECONDED BY: Holberg RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING SNOW REMOVAL POLICY FOR CITY OF LAKEVILLE DOWNTOWN DISTRICT WHEREAS, historically Public Works crews have hauled snow from various privately owned properties in the downtown district; and, WHEREAS, this program establishes a snow removal practice not equitable with other business districts within the City; and, WHEREAS, removal of snow by the City Public Works Department from private property may result in unwarranted liability for the City; and, WHEREAS, the practice of snow removal from private property has continued to stretch the limited resources available to the Public Works Department, • WHEREAS, the City Public Works Department will continue to remove snow from public right-of- ways which accumulate from snow plowing in front of the business districts to include the areas of Holyoke from 202nd Street to 210th Street, on 207th Street between Holt and Hollins Avenues, on Holt from 207th to 208th, and on Howland from 207th to 208th; and, WHEREAS, the Public Works Department will continue to remove snow from public sidewalks in the downtown commercial district, which is completed as a snow removal priority. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, in an effort to establish an equitable snow removal program for all business districts in the City, snow removal from private properties in the downtown district shall be discontinued effective November 4, 1996.
